Hundreds of long-dormant Ethereum addresses have been hacked, reason unknown
BlockBeats News, May 1st, according to crypto analyst Wazz, since yesterday, hundreds of wallets (many of which have been dormant for over 7 years) have been emptied by the same address on the ETH mainnet. Aragon team member @TheTakenUser also posted to confirm that funds in their wallet were transferred for unknown reasons.
The initial cause of this incident has not yet been determined. Community analysis suggests it is due to old mnemonic phrases, private keys, or storage leaks from LastPass between 2017-2020, or previous risky authorizations, rather than a new smart contract vulnerability.
