just realized there's way more stuff you can actually buy with your HSA than I thought. like, I've been sitting on this account thinking it's just for doctor visits but apparently you can grab so many random things with it.

so sunscreen is covered if it's SPF 15+ with broad spectrum protection - which honestly makes sense since skin cancer prevention is legit healthcare. and eye stuff too, which is wild because regular insurance barely touches vision. contact lens solution, glasses, contacts - all HSA eligible.

what really got me though: menstrual products, condoms, prenatal vitamins... like these are things insurance won't fully cover but your HSA will. contraception costs add up so being able to use HSA funds there is actually pretty smart.

even weirder finds - kinesiology tape (yes, the stuff beauty influencers won't shut up about), hot/cold packs for workouts, pill organizers, OTC meds like Tylenol and Benadryl. apparently the OTC thing became possible after the CARES Act in 2020 so that's relatively recent.

and if you're trying to quit smoking, cessation products like nicotine patches and gum count too.

tbh I'm shocked at how many everyday health items you can actually pay for with HSA money instead of your regular cash. worth going through your account and seeing what you can grab. anyone else just learning this stuff?
