Just went down a rabbit hole looking for better personal financial planning software and honestly there are way more solid options out there than I thought. Been trying to get my finances in order and these apps actually make it less painful.
So like, if you're into the whole automated investing thing, Acorns is pretty slick - you can start with spare change and they've got decent APY on savings accounts. But I also checked out Buddy which is more about tracking expenses across multiple accounts, which is helpful if you're managing shared finances with someone.
For the zero-based budgeting people, EveryDollar seems to be the move. You basically assign every dollar a job which sounds intense but actually works? Then there's Goodbudget if you like the envelope method but digital - gives you 20 envelopes to start with and you can sync across devices.
I'm realizing personal financial planning software really varies depending on what you need. Like PocketGuard has this solid bill tracker if you're always worried about late fees, and Spendee lets you connect crypto wallets too which is interesting. YNAB's got this whole four-rule system that people swear by, though it's not free after the trial.
Honeydue is probably the best if you're managing finances with a partner - way less arguing about bills apparently. And Monarch seems to be for people who want AI doing the categorization work for them.
The thing is, most of these personal financial planning software options have free versions or trials, so you can actually test them out before paying. Fudget's free on desktop and mobile, Goodbudget has a free tier with 20 envelopes. Honeydue is completely free which is wild.
Anyone else been shopping around for this stuff? Curious which ones people actually stick with long-term.
