Just checked AAA data and gas prices over the last year have actually dropped everywhere, which is kind of wild. Every single state is paying less than they were a year ago.

Turns out crude oil tanked from around $80 a barrel to $60, and OPEC+ increased production, so supply went up. That's basically the whole story. One AAA spokesperson mentioned demand hasn't been as strong either, so it all added up to lower prices at the pump.

New Hampshire got absolutely crushed in a good way - down 17.36% year-over-year. They went from $3.51 to $2.91 a gallon. On the flip side, Washington only dropped 5.54%, still sitting at $4.40 (third highest in the country after California and Hawaii). Mississippi, Louisiana, and Oklahoma have the cheapest gas right now, all under $2.82.

Nationally, we're averaging $3.19 per gallon, which is down 11.4% from last year's $3.59. Pretty solid improvement across the board. Normally gas prices rise into summer, but this oil price dip has basically paused that seasonal bump.
