Recently checked the on-chain and exchange transaction records from last year, almost gave up on reporting on the spot... To be honest, it's not that I don't know how to calculate, but the records are too fragmented. Now I have a simple method: every time I make a large swap or sell, I take a screenshot and note "why I made the move," then drop the exported CSV from the exchange into the same folder, organized by month. The on-chain part is even more troublesome, especially when crossing chains; I might as well record each bridge and Gas fee as well, or else by the end of the year, I’ll be overwhelmed trying to reconcile.
I see everyone talking about modularization and DA (Data Availability) layers enthusiastically, developers are excited, but for ordinary users like me, I only worry about: adding another layer of record-keeping for reconciliation... Anyway, I’ll just keep the evidence, to avoid the mindset of "I think it was around that time...". Take it slow, don’t wait until the end of the year to start catching up.
