So I actually needed to order checks the other day and started researching where the cheapest place to buy checks even is. Turns out banks charge way more than I thought? Like, they'll give you a few free but then it gets expensive fast. Found out Costco and Walmart have way better prices if you just go with basic designs.
The whole thing made me realize most people probably don't even write checks anymore unless they're older. But if you do need them, apparently the cheapest place to buy checks isn't your bank - it's actually places like Carousel or Checks In The Mail if you don't mind waiting a bit. The key is ordering in bulk and keeping the design simple. Custom stuff obviously costs more.
Also learned you can technically print your own but banks usually won't accept homemade ones anyway, so that's kind of pointless. And if you're trying to save money, don't wait until the last check to reorder - that expedited shipping kills you.
Anyone else still using checks regularly? Seems like it's mostly people over 60 at this point. But if you do, shopping around for the cheapest place to buy checks definitely saves money compared to just going through your bank.
