Gold Finance reported that on April 30, Russian Presidential Assistant Ushakov said on the evening of the 29th that Russian President Putin and U.S. President Trump held a phone call that day, exchanging views on issues including the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting incident, the situation in Iran, and the issue of Ukraine. According to Ushakov, during the call Trump briefed Putin on his views of the Middle East situation. Putin believed that Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire in Iran and neighboring areas was correct, which would help stabilize the situation. Putin also said that options to take ground military action against Iran are completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. Ushakov said that the call was initiated by the Russian side, lasted more than an hour and a half, and the two sides’ exchanges were “frank and pragmatic.” (Xinhua News Agency)
