ChainCatcher news: Delphi Digital said in a post on X that in 2025 the GameFi industry has been sluggish, with funding falling by more than 55% year over year. The most anticipated product launches performed poorly, and market enthusiasm has been low.

Web2.5 games are quietly rising. These games treat blockchain purely as infrastructure, and usually do not issue tokens; they compete using real revenue. Studios such as Fumb Games, Mythical Games, and Wemade/Wemix have continued to generate substantial income while using blockchain technology to improve profit margins and increase engagement.

Web3 native games this year have generated six- to seven-figure revenues, but the player base is smaller and crowded with bots. After incentive mechanisms disappear, user churn has been severe. Web2.5 studios can currently take advantage of blockchain benefits without forcing users to speculate. Widespread stablecoin adoption will accelerate this trend, making small transactions, global payment rails, and participation-based reward mechanisms more convenient.
