Been looking at what's available for crypto ETF investing in Canada lately and it's wild how much has changed. A few years back it was just Bitcoin and Ethereum, but now you've got Solana and XRP spot ETFs hitting the market too. The 3iQ Solana staking ETF launched last year with basically zero fees for the first year, which definitely got people's attention. Even attracted some big names like SkyBridge Capital.
What's interesting is how competitive the fee structure has gotten. You can grab Bitcoin exposure through Fidelity or CI Galaxy for under 0.4 percent now, and the newer XRP products started at zero fees for their first few months. Purpose and Evolve are still charging higher rates around 0.75 to 1.5 percent, but they've been around longer. The whole point of these crypto ETFs is supposed to be easier access without dealing with wallets and custody headaches, so lower fees definitely matter.
I've been tracking the assets under management on these things and the bigger ones like Fidelity Bitcoin and CI Galaxy are sitting at over a billion Canadian each. The newer altcoin ETFs are smaller but growing. If you're looking to get crypto exposure through a regulated product without the hassle of direct ownership, Canada's definitely got options now compared to where things were a few years ago.
