I just saw information from Arkham that Vitalik Buterin sold about $30 million worth of ETH earlier this year. The reason was to support the Ethereum Foundation and Kanro, a biological charity organization. In the past, Buterin has often done this—selling tokens when prices drop and using the proceeds for charity.

What’s notable is that his ETH holdings decreased from more than 240,000 units to 224,000 units, which is about 7% of his total stash. However, compared with the period in 2015, when he held 663,000 ETH, this drop isn’t a big deal. Arkham points out that these sales are part of a much longer-term fundraising plan rather than personal spending.

An interesting transfer is that part of 500,000 USDC was sent to Kanro via CoW Protocol and Wintermute, showing that Vitalik Buterin has a clear approach to using funds. In the past, he donated $1.2 billion worth of SHIB to help with COVID-19 relief in India. So this pattern looks more like an investment in the future than speculation.
ETH-2.63%
USDC0.01%
SHIB-1.06%
