I have observed an interesting pattern in Bitcoin dominance. In January 2026, it was at 58.21%, but in recent months it has slightly decreased and is now around 57%. This indicates that investor interest in altcoins is increasing.
When I looked at the data from last year, a bigger picture emerged. In 2022, it was at its lowest at 38.84% during the altcoin season. Then throughout 2024, it gradually increased and reached 54.56% in December. This shows how volatile the market can be.
Interestingly, at the beginning of 2018, the dominance was also around 35%, which was quite low. So, this fluctuation in Bitcoin dominance is a normal cycle. We are currently at a mid-level, where Bitcoin still dominates the market but altcoins are also getting their chance.
