Geopolitical Focus Shifts to Hormuz as Trump Reviews Iran’s Three-Phase Proposal
Geopolitical attention is once again turning toward the Middle East as Donald Trump meets with his national security team to assess Iran’s latest negotiation framework. The proposal reportedly follows a three-phase structure, with the Strait of Hormuz placed at the center of initial discussions.
Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most critical energy routes globally, making it a natural focal point in any negotiation involving regional stability. By prioritizing this corridor, Iran appears to be signaling that energy security and maritime access are key leverage points in the talks.
From a strategic perspective, structuring negotiations in phases suggests a controlled approach rather than an immediate resolution. It allows both sides to test progress incrementally, while keeping core issues—such as sanctions, military presence, and trade flows—on the table for later stages.
At the same time, the involvement of high-level U.S. decision-makers indicates that the proposal is being taken seriously, even if outcomes remain uncertain. Markets typically react to this kind of engagement with cautious optimism, but the conditional nature of the plan means volatility is likely to persist.
In my view, the emphasis on Hormuz highlights a broader reality:
control over critical infrastructure is still one of the strongest negotiation tools in geopolitics.
Any development tied to this region tends to ripple across energy markets first, and then into broader risk assets, including crypto. As long as negotiations remain active but unresolved, the market is likely to stay sensitive to headlines.
For now, the situation is evolving. The structure of the proposal suggests movement—but not resolution.
