🇺🇸Thom Tillis speaks out in support of Kevin Warsh becoming Fed Chair
📌 The DOJ has just announced that it is ending its investigation into Powell for "abuse of power" ( excessive coordination with the Ministry of Finance), "monetary policy mismanagement" ( keeping interest rates low for too long) and not supervising Fed officials trading securities during QE 21-22.
This investigation is just a legal ploy to force Powell to step down.
📌 Thom Tillis is a member of the Banking Committee (Uỷ ban ngân hàng), which is one of the groups that decides on individuals put forward for Fed appointments; moreover, he represents the more moderate Republican camp. His support for Warsh will be a green light for the rest of the Banking Committee to vote for Warsh.
📌 The Senate Banking Committee is expected to vote tomorrow to advance Warsh’s nomination to the full Senate. The Republicans currently hold 13-11 seats on the committee, so once Tillis signals the green light, the path to approval is nearly wide open.
📌 Although Powell’s term as Fed Chair will end on 15/5, he will continue serving as a Fed Governor until 2028. If enough pressure is applied to get Powell to fully step down, Trump will have another opportunity to intervene in the Fed’s decisions.
📌 If Warsh is approved before 15/5, the June meeting could be the first Fed meeting under the new order.
