I used to always say "I only look at on-chain data," which was a bit obsessive... It wasn't until I was proven wrong a few times that I realized: what you see on the chain can also be delayed. Slow node synchronization, RPCs running through public endpoints with rate limits, indexers still catching up on data—your transaction/settlement data looks like a late bus, you only see the stop update after others have already gotten off.
Recently, in the group, people are again sharing screenshots of stablecoin regulation, reserve audits, and various "de-pegging" alerts. My first instinct was also to check on-chain, but now I ask first: which source am I actually looking at? Is the data real-time? Don’t just take it as the truth when you get excited. Anyway, I tend to be a bit slow myself—prefer to wait until the signals are more stable before acting—it's much more comfortable than chasing after delayed data.
