AIMPACT News, April 28 (UTC+8), Major Changes in Microsoft’s Collaboration with OpenAI. Microsoft will no longer have exclusive access to OpenAI’s models and products, and OpenAI can now offer its products and services to any cloud provider. This marks a significant shift in the partnership: Microsoft had previously been OpenAI’s exclusive cloud service provider and technology licensing partner, but under the new agreement, OpenAI is now free to collaborate with other major companies. Nevertheless, Microsoft still holds shares in OpenAI (valued at over $135 billion) and will continue to use OpenAI’s technology through a licensing agreement until 2032.
