ME News Report, April 27 (UTC+8), due to the U.S. imposing a blockade on Iranian ports, Iran is unable to ship oil to customers, and empty oil tankers cannot dock to load cargo, leading to a continuous buildup of its oil reserves. To prevent some oil fields from shutting down, Iran has begun storing oil on floating oil tanks. However, according to current and former Iranian officials, this country, which heavily relies on oil exports for most of its income, is now adopting methods never before used to save storage space. These officials stated that Iranian authorities are using containers and “simple storage facilities,” that is, using poorly maintained abandoned tanks in the southern oil hub of Asaluyeh and Ahvaz regions to store oil.
