US media: The United States demands Iran suspend uranium enrichment for 20 years, while Iran hopes for a shorter suspension period
ME News, April 14 (UTC+8): An American official and an informed source revealed that the United States proposed during negotiations held in Islamabad last weekend that Iran accept a 20-year uranium enrichment pause. Iran, meanwhile, proposed a shorter term of single-digit years. Sources said the U.S. demand for a uranium enrichment pause was a key issue in the marathon-style talks. “On the U.S. side, they proposed at least a 20-year pause, along with various other restrictions,” said a source familiar with the matter. The U.S. also demanded that Iran move all highly enriched uranium out of the country. Iran said it is willing to accept “monitored down-blending procedures” for these materials.
