Recently, I've been looking at a bunch of PFPs and membership passes again. Everyone talks about long-term branding, but in reality, they're all competing for short-term attention… which is normal. When market sentiment rises together, even discussions about “interest rate cut expectations,” “US dollar index,” and risk assets all going up or down together can become trending topics. Attention is the cheapest and most expensive fuel. To put it simply, what truly makes a membership valuable isn't how good the picture looks, but whether you can continuously find people with the same values and work ethic after joining the group. Otherwise, the excitement lasts only three days before it disperses.
What I fear most isn't loss, but losing control: knowing you're chasing something but still unable to resist treating your position as a matter of face. Anyway, I now prefer to see PFPs as a mirror—whether I’m buying an identity or a community where I can stay long-term. That’s all for now.
