AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8): Meta Platforms has reached a multi-billion-dollar multi-year cooperation agreement with Amazon.com. Meta will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton chip cores to support AI agents and other AI projects. The agreement term is 3 to 5 years, with most of the chips located in the United States; financial terms have not been disclosed. Meta is one of AWS’s five largest Graviton customers, using its 3-nanometer Graviton5 chips. Nafea Bshara, AWS Vice President and co-founder of the chip division Annapurna Labs, said Meta chose Graviton5 because of its cost-performance advantages.

The agreement is one of several partnerships Meta has reached this year with various chip companies; the others include Nvidia, AMD, and Arm Holdings. With the rise of AI agents, CPUs have become a hot commodity again. Industry research shows that CPUs and GPUs can work together to complete a range of AI tasks. Earlier this week, Amazon announced an additional $5 billion investment in Anthropic, which will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton CPU cores. Meta this week released its first new AI model, Muse Spark, in more than a year, and plans to roll out more models soon.
