Meta and AWS reach multi-year partnership agreement, utilizing tens of millions of Graviton chip cores to support AI projects
AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8), Meta Platforms has reached a multi-billion dollar multi-year partnership agreement with Amazon.com, in which Meta will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton chip cores to support AI agents and other AI projects. The agreement is for 3 to 5 years, with most chips located in the United States, and financial terms are undisclosed. Meta is one of AWS’s top five Graviton customers, using its 3-nanometer Graviton 5 chips. Annapurna Labs co-founder and AWS Vice President of the chip division Nafea Bshara stated that Meta chose Graviton 5 due to its cost-performance advantage. This agreement is one of several chip company collaborations Meta has announced this year, including Nvidia, AMD, and Arm Holdings. As AI agents rise, CPUs have once again become hot commodities. Industry research shows that CPUs and GPUs can work together to complete various AI tasks. Earlier this week, Amazon announced an additional $5 billion investment in Anthropic, which will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton CPU cores. Meta released its first new AI model, Muse Spark, in over a year this week, and plans to release more models soon.
