I just reviewed the numbers, and the drop since Trump took office in January 2025 is quite brutal. If you had invested $10,000 in XRP that day, today you'd be seeing just $4,710 in your portfolio. Bitcoin has lost 34% since then, dropping from $101,100 to approximately $78,230, and Ethereum also took a hit with a 38% decline.

The interesting thing is that XRP was the hardest hit, falling nearly 53% from the $2.95 it reached in January. Its market capitalization plummeted from $170 billion to $88 billion. Looking at historical data on CoinMarketCap, it's impressive to see how the momentum that carried from Trump's election victory in November 2024 was reversed.

But here’s where it gets interesting: several analysts argue that this could be the shakeout before a stronger move. Some project that XRP could reach $5-$10 if there is regulatory clarity in the U.S., which would mean a 7x gain from the current level of $1.44. There are even those who see more aggressive figures. If that happens, those 3,389 XRP you bought with $10,000 in January could be worth much more.

With Bitcoin, the million-dollar narrative remains alive. If BTC reaches that level from the current $78,230, your $10,000 investment would have generated significant gains. Analysts like Michaël van de Poppe are saying that in a few years, people will regret not buying at these levels.

In crypto, the time horizon is everything. Deep corrections have historically been followed by sharp expansions. Looking at data on CoinMarketCap, market cycles are clear: aggressive drops, followed by strong recoveries. The question is whether we are close to the rebound or if more pain lies ahead. What’s clear is that XRP and the rest of the assets are in either opportunity territory or trap territory, depending on your perspective.
