entry-level used to mean you could learn on the job.

now it means:
→ 5 years of experience minimum.
→ full-stack data skills (SQL, python, ML, experimentation).
→ devops knowledge (AWS/GCP/azure, kafka, spark).
→ business acumen and domain expertise.
→ "ownership mindset" (startup speak for: do 3 jobs for 1 salary).
→ communication skills that rival your technical ones.
the bar didn't rise.
it became a different sport entirely.
