rsETH incident enters the "final stage," but the impact left behind is far deeper than the numbers⚠️
Latest on-chain data整理👇
👉 Currently, there is still a gap of about 68.9k ETH (approximately $160 million)👉 The reason is that the attacker collateralized rsETH to borrow about 99.6k ETH👉 After deducting the 30.7k ETH frozen and recovered on Arbitrum, it forms👇 More importantly, 👉 The trapped ETH has been exchanged for BTC, and the funds have "left the original system"📉
💡 But the market has not completely collapsed; instead, a new phenomenon has emerged:
Aave led the launch of the "DeFi United" rescue mechanism, beginning to collectively patch the holes👇
Currently, about 13.5k ETH have been confirmed supported:
• Lido: 2,500 stETH
• ether: 5,000 ETH
• Stani Kulechov: 5,000 ETH
• Golem Foundation: 1,000 ETH
• Some institutions have not disclosed amounts
📊 The essence of this matter can actually be viewed in two layers:
📈 The positive side:
• The industry’s first appearance of a "self-rescue alliance" model🤝
• Leading protocols are willing to jointly bear system risks
• Strengthening market trust in the DeFi ecosystem
• Proving that DeFi has a certain "shock resistance"
⚠️ But the risks are even more worth pondering:
• The $160 million gap indicates that the system still has structural vulnerabilities
• Collateralization + lending models are vulnerable to exploitation in extreme cases
• Funds converted into BTC make tracking and recovery more difficult
• "Self-rescue" is essentially about patching holes, not solving root causes
🧠 My view:
The most important thing about this event is not how much was lost, but 👇
👉 DeFi has shifted from an "unorganized system" to a "semi-organized emergency response."
But problems also follow:
As more protocols start to "jointly backstop," 👉 The boundary between decentralization and "implicit consensus responsibility" will become increasingly blurred.
📌 In one sentence:
The rsETH event is not the end but a watershed—DeFi is learning to self-rescue, but it also exposes the underlying issues that the system must evolve⚖️
