rsETH Incident Leaves 68,900 ETH Shortfall as DeFi United Secures 13,500 ETH

On-chain analyst EmberCN estimated that the rsETH incident created a shortfall of about 68,900 ETH, or around $160 million, after an attacker borrowed 99,600 ETH against rsETH collateral. EmberCN said the gap was partly offset by 30,700 ETH that was recovered and frozen through the Arbitrum channel. EmberCN said the relevant ETH has since been converted to BTC, and the case has entered recovery. Aave coordinated a recovery group called DeFi United, which has received about 13,500 ETH from Lido, ether.fi, Stani Kulechov, the Golem Foundation and other institutions that did not disclose amounts.
