ME News Report, April 13 (UTC+8), Hong Kong police announced on the “Guardian” platform that a woman in Hong Kong was scammed in a crypto pig-butchering scheme, losing over 2 million HKD. The scammers actively followed a woman in her fifties on Instagram and initiated contact through comments, quickly establishing a romantic relationship with warm messages. They then claimed to be “crypto investment experts” and lured her into a trap. The scammers first persuaded her to transfer 40k HKD as a fee to open an investment website account, then asked her to go to physical exchange stores in seven installments to exchange cash for USDT, and transfer the USDT to the other party via electronic wallet. Once the funds were received, the other party immediately disappeared. (Source: Foresight News)
