Wow, what a situation! It turns out that a white hat hacker named Ducha literally saved Foom Cash from complete collapse. The project lost $2.26 million due to some misconfiguration in the verifier, and the attacker exploited this. But here’s the interesting part — this white hat hacker not only noticed the problem, but also returned $1.84 million (which is 81% of the stolen amount). The incident took place on Base and Ethereum, so work had to be done across different networks.
The funniest thing is — Foom Cash paid generously for this work. The white hat hacker received $320,000, plus the company Decurity (which helped recover the funds) received $100,000 for consulting. That’s what I call a proper approach — when a white hat hacker not only finds a vulnerability but also helps fix it, everyone’s happy.
Overall, this is a good example of how important security is in crypto. One misconfiguration — and $2.26 million is at risk. Thanks to people like this.
