Odaily Planet Daily reports that Base announced an independent network upgrade “Base Azul,” which will launch its mainnet on May 13, 2026. Azul has already gone live on the testnet, aiming to enhance security, performance, and developer experience. The main updates include:

  1. Activating a multi-proof system (combining TEE and ZK proofs) to advance Stage 2 decentralization, enabling withdrawals to be completed within the fastest one day;

  2. Integrating into a single high-performance client stack, base-reth-node and base-consensus, reducing the number of empty blocks from about 200 per day to approximately 2, maintaining a burst throughput of 5,000 TPS multiple times;

  3. Aligning with the Ethereum Osaka execution layer standards.
