Deep Tide TechFlow News, April 22 — Base announced that its first independent network upgrade, Base Azul, has gone live on the testnet, with the mainnet activation targeted for May 13, 2026. This upgrade is Base's first network-level upgrade conducted independently of the OP Stack. The official statement says Azul will improve in three areas: security, performance, and developer experience. Base will enable multiple proof mechanisms through Azul, base-reth-node will become its sole execution client, and it will adopt the latest execution layer standard (Osaka) to stay compatible with Ethereum. Users do not need to take any action for this upgrade.
