Gate Contract Points: How to Accumulate Through Trading and Optimize Fees and Benefits

Abstract generation in progress

Crypto trading is no longer just a simple price game. Users’ trading behaviors, asset deposits, and ecosystem participation are being quantified into a new asset—points. Behind these numbers is a paradigm shift from “trading as consumption” to “trading as growth.”

Gate Contract Points

Gate Contract Points are a form of activity assessment credential generated based on users’ trading behaviors and asset scales within the contract ecosystem. They cannot be withdrawn or transferred and are only used within the Gate platform. The points themselves do not have storage value; their worth depends on whether users can exchange them for rights that have practical utility within their validity period.

The core design philosophy of this system is: to convert every opening and closing of positions, every asset deposit in the account into a proof of ecosystem participation that can be accumulated and quantified. It is not a traditional trading rebate substitute but a link connecting user behaviors with platform-wide ecosystem rights.

Three Main Channels for Earning Points

Gate Contract Points are obtained through three parallel channels, each operating independently and capable of stacking.

Contract Trading Volume Channel

This is the primary way to accumulate points. For every 400 USDT of valid contract trading volume completed, users earn 1 point, with no daily cap. Both opening and closing trades are included in the calculation. High-frequency traders can earn 1,000 points with a daily trading volume of 400,000 USDT. Note that trades completed via API, stablecoin trading pairs, copy trading, and bot trading volume are not counted in this channel.

Asset Holding Channel

The system takes a snapshot of USDT and BTC balances in the contract account daily at 07:59:59 Beijing time. Based on the balance range at the snapshot, a fixed number of points are awarded. Holding assets valued between 1,000 USDT and 10,000 USDT earns 2 points daily; between 10,000 USDT and 100,000 USDT earns 3 points daily; over 100,000 USDT earns 4 points daily. As of April 22, 2026, with Bitcoin priced around $76,341.8, holding approximately 0.34 BTC in the contract account qualifies for the 3-point holding range, allowing users to accumulate about 90 points per month just from holding.

TradFi Trading Channel

Starting February 9, 2026, the Gate Contract Points system underwent a structural upgrade. TradFi products (covering gold, forex, stock indices, and stock CFDs) trading volume is officially included in the point calculation system, converted at a rate of 20% of the effective contract trading volume. Additionally, TradFi account balances participate in daily asset snapshots for scoring. This means users can continue to accumulate points through TradFi products even when not engaging in crypto contract trading, enabling cross-asset point earning.

15-Day Validity and Point Management

A key rule in the Gate Contract Points system is: each point is valid for 15 days from the date of issuance; unused points after expiration are automatically voided and cannot be recovered. The system follows a “first-in, first-out” consumption principle, deducting the earliest earned points first.

The core economic logic of this mechanism is to introduce a natural deflation model. A large amount of points expire and exit circulation due to user forgetfulness, making the remaining points held by active exchangers relatively scarce, thus maintaining the overall value of the points system.

Operationally, the system does not proactively notify users when points are about to expire. Users need to develop proactive monitoring habits, regularly check the expiration reminders on the points page, and complete exchanges before points become invalid.

How Points Affect Fees and Trading Costs

The impact of the points system on trading fees is mainly realized through two pathways: direct redemption and indirect optimization.

Direct Deduction Mechanism

Users can enable a points-based fee deduction feature in the “Fee Settings” of their account. For high-frequency traders, accumulated points can continuously offset trading costs. Points can be exchanged for cash tokens, directly used to pay for contract trading fees, which is the most straightforward way to reduce trading costs.

Indirect Value Realization

Points cannot be directly withdrawn but can be converted into liquid assets to realize value. For example, in recent activities, users could exchange 15 points for 3 GT or 25 GUSD. The GUSD or GT obtained can be withdrawn or traded as real assets.

Additionally, points used to airdrop popular projects are an important source of excess returns. In past activities, some users exchanged 130 points for 10,000 PUMP or 120 points for 460 DEEP. These exchanges offer users holding points the opportunity to participate early in projects.

Linkage with VIP Level System

The Gate points system does not operate in isolation; it forms a mutually reinforcing relationship with the Gate VIP level system. Higher VIP levels mean lower contract trading fees, saving users more on fees; increased trading volume further accelerates point accumulation, creating a positive cycle.

Double Leverage for Fee Optimization

Overall, Gate users have established a dual-leverage structure for fee optimization:

The first lever is the points system—users continuously earn points through contract trading, asset holding, and TradFi trading, which can be used for direct fee deduction, token exchange, or participation in airdrops, adding “secondary value” to trading activities.

The second lever is the VIP system—users can upgrade their VIP level by increasing trading volume over the past 30 days or holding more GT, enjoying tiered fee discounts.

The synergy between the two is: active trading promotes both point accumulation and VIP level upgrades; the reduced base fee rate from higher VIP levels combined with points-based deductions further compress trading costs.

Strategy Suggestions for Different User Types

The integration of the points system and VIP system provides differentiated value paths for various user styles:

High-frequency traders should prioritize rapidly upgrading VIP levels through trading volume to benefit from tiered fee reductions, while using points to hedge high-frequency trading fee erosion.

Mid- to long-term asset allocators can maintain asset scales in contract and TradFi accounts to steadily earn holding-channel points, upgrade VIP levels via GT holdings, and benefit from yield products like Yubibao.

Cross-asset traders should fully utilize the TradFi product trading inclusion mechanism, continuously accumulating points through gold, forex, and other traditional assets during periods of low crypto market volatility, maintaining a steady flow of points.

Conclusion

Gate Contract Points are evolving from a simple incentive tool into a core link of the entire platform ecosystem. With the launch of Gate Alpha’s on-chain trading aggregation platform, points now directly determine users’ eligibility for Alpha token airdrops, limited-time events, and other rights. The higher the points, the richer the activity rights users can participate in.

Meanwhile, GT’s role is shifting from a pure platform token to a Web3 infrastructure token—along with the advancement of Gate Layer’s high-performance Layer 2 network, GT has been designated as the only on-chain Gas token. This means GT’s demand will expand from trading scenarios to on-chain application scenarios. Holders of GT are not only VIP system participants but also stakeholders in the entire Gate ecosystem’s development.

From “trading as consumption” to “trading as growth,” the Gate Contract Points system redefines the value boundary of every transaction. The points and level rights accumulated outside of trading profits are becoming key variables influencing long-term trading efficiency and net returns.
