Gate Contract Points Incentive System: Analysis of the Linkage Mechanism Between Trading Volume, Holdings, and TradFi Products
Gate Contract Points convert users’ trading activity, asset size, and ecosystem participation into quantifiable rights certificates, rather than simple trading rebate substitutes. These points cannot be withdrawn or transferred, are neither fiat currency nor cryptocurrency, and must be used within a 15-day validity period. The points themselves do not store value; their worth depends on whether users can exchange them for rights with actual utility within the valid period.
The Three Main Channels to Earn Gate Contract Points
The sources of Gate Contract Points are composed of three parallel tracks, each operating independently and capable of stacking.
Contract Trading Volume Track
This is the core method for accumulating points. For every 400 USDT of valid contract trading volume completed, you earn 1 point, with no daily cap. Both opening and closing trades are included in the volume count. It’s important to note that trades completed via API, stablecoin trading pairs, copy trading, and bot trading volume are not counted in this track. For high-frequency traders, the trading volume track is the primary source of points.
Asset Holding Track
The system takes a snapshot of the USDT and BTC balances in the contract account daily at 07:59:59 Beijing time. Based on the balance at the snapshot, a fixed number of points are awarded according to the balance range. Holding assets valued between 1,000 USDT and 10,000 USDT earns 2 points daily; between 10,000 USDT and 100,000 USDT earns 3 points daily; exceeding 100,000 USDT earns 4 points daily. This means users who hold contract account assets long-term can continuously earn points without high-frequency trading.
TradFi Trading Track
Starting February 9, 2026, the Gate TradFi Points system undergoes a structural upgrade. TradFi products (covering gold, forex, stock indices, and stock CFDs) are officially included in the points calculation system, converted at a rate of 20% of their trading volume as effective contract trading volume. Additionally, TradFi account balances participate in daily asset snapshot scoring. This upgrade enables cross-asset category point accumulation, allowing users to earn points through TradFi product trading even during periods of low crypto market volatility.
Invitation Track
For each successfully inviting a new user to participate in contract trading, the inviter receives additional points as a reward, providing a pathway for social viral growth.
15-Day Validity Mechanism: Core Rules for Point Management
A crucial rule in the Gate Contract Points system is: each point is valid for 15 days from the date of issuance, after which any unused portion will automatically expire and cannot be recovered.
The system follows a “First-In, First-Out” consumption principle. When users initiate a point redemption, the system prioritizes deducting from the earliest earned, closest-to-expiry point batches. Therefore, the total shown on the points page does not all share the same validity status; attention should be paid to the “Expiring Soon” label and the corresponding point amounts.
It’s important to note that the system will not proactively notify users when points are about to expire. Unused points that expire will be automatically deducted and cannot be recovered. Passive waiting results in point expiration. Users are advised to establish a weekly proactive monitoring habit, regularly check the expiration reminders on the points page, and complete exchanges before points become invalid.
From a mechanism design perspective, the 15-day validity introduces a natural deflation model. A large amount of points expire and are destroyed due to user forgetfulness, removing them from circulation, which makes the remaining points in active users’ hands relatively scarce. This helps maintain the overall value of the points system. This defines a core difference between Gate Contract Points and traditional membership points—they are not an infinitely accumulable “digital balance,” but a “behavioral voucher” that must be converted into actual rights within the validity period.
Gate Contract Points’ Three Main Use Cases
Direct Exchange for Tokens and Stablecoins
Users can directly exchange points for GT or GUSD. For example, in recent activities, during the 76th airdrop, 15 points could be exchanged for 3 GT; in the 77th, points could be exchanged for 25 GUSD. The assets obtained can be freely withdrawn, representing the most direct way to realize the value of points.
Exchange for Popular Project Airdrops
This is the most imaginative use case for points. In past activities, users exchanged 130 points for 10,000 PUMP, or 120 points for 460 DEEP. Such exchanges provide users holding points with early project participation opportunities.
Fee Deduction and Position Experience Funds
Users can enable fee deduction with points in the “Fee Settings” of their account. For high-frequency traders, accumulated points can continuously offset trading costs. Additionally, points can be used to exchange for USDT position experience funds, allowing users to test trading strategies without risking real funds.
Points System and Market Context
As of April 20, 2026, Gate market data shows Bitcoin at approximately 74,450 USDT, with a 24-hour trading volume of 582.56M and a market cap of about 1.49T. Ethereum is around 2,278 USDT, with a 24-hour trading volume of 383.53M and a market cap of approximately 275.69B. GT is about 7.13 USDT, with a market cap of roughly 778.37M. Based on current prices, holding about 0.34 BTC in the contract account qualifies for the daily 3-point holding zone, and just holding assets alone can accumulate about 90 points per month.
Conclusion
Gate Contract Points are not an isolated module operating independently but are deeply integrated into the Gate contract trading ecosystem as an incentive system. From trading volume acquisition to position snapshots, from TradFi product inclusion to the 15-day validity mechanism, the design logic always revolves around a core proposition—transforming every transaction and position on the platform into exchangeable rights. Understanding the rules, proactive management, and timely usage are the three fundamental prerequisites for maximizing the value of Gate Contract Points.
