ME News, April 12 (UTC+8): Philadelphia musician G.Love (U.S.) said that while replacing his computer and reconfiguring his crypto wallet Ledger, he mistakenly downloaded a malicious counterfeit app from the Apple App Store, causing approximately 5.92 Bitcoins to be fully transferred in a short period of time. On-chain detective ZachXBT later said that the flow of the stolen funds has been tracked, and the related assets have been transferred via CEX deposit addresses. ZachXBT also questioned the Apple App Store’s app review mechanism, saying the platform’s allowance of counterfeit apps being listed further amplifies risks to users’ asset security.
