ME News Report, April 19 (UTC+8), there has been progress in a rape case in Hong Kong. Two mainland Chinese men were charged with sexually assaulting a drunken woman at a hotel in Mong Kok in November 2025. The case was scheduled for trial and has been held in custody. The prosecution recently applied to withdraw the charges at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court and was approved. One of the defendants’ application for legal costs was approved. The magistrate believed that although the two admitted to having had sexual relations with the complainant, it did not constitute “self-incrimination,” and did not agree with the prosecution’s opposition. The prosecution stated that after further investigation and legal consultation, they decided to withdraw the charges, and the two defendants have been released.
Additionally, community disclosures suggest that the two may be ME (formerly the blockchain media platform MetaEra) BD. (Source: PANews)
