ME News Report, April 18 (UTC+8), Liz Truss, the shortest-serving former Prime Minister of the UK, stated in an interview that the UK economy has been stagnant for decades and attributed this to a lack of reliable currency, as well as inflation and money printing leading to the devaluation of the pound. Truss said that the current fiscal situation has increased her interest in Bitcoin and believes that Bitcoin is a tool to counter currency devaluation. She also mentioned that during her tenure as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2017 to 2019, she had mentioned Bitcoin in pursuit of change. Truss also criticized the internal government for viewing monetary policy as a “taboo” and lacking discussion, and said that the current system tends to strengthen “centralized control” and restrict financial independence.
