Over the past two days, people have been arguing again about whether secondary royalties should be mandatory. To put it plainly, I’m really torn: I want to support creators, but when it’s forced, it often turns into “nobody sells anymore.” Once liquidity gets worse, the works end up more like they’re locked away in a shop window. On the other hand, if you don’t collect any at all, creators end up relying on “love and passion”—and once the hype fades, it’s also easy for everything to disperse.

I used to pay attention to a certain project, and I thought what they said about “long-term co-building” sounded pretty genuine. Later, I realized their gameplay was getting more and more like the whole chain-game setup: once inflation kicks in, studios come in to grind and farm, and the moment the coin price turns, it spirals downward. In the end, everyone’s just obsessing over the numbers and doing the math—no one’s looking at the works anymore… so I quietly unfollowed them, and my mindset shifted from “just support a bit” to “forget it—don’t get dragged into the bag-holder emotions.” Now I’d rather see those who treat royalties as an optional courtesy, while also building the content itself in a solid, grounded way—staying quiet is fine too.
