ME News Report, April 3 (UTC+8), Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Fu Cong stated at the UN Security Council open debate on cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council that the origin of the Middle East conflict is the United States and Israel launching military attacks on Iran, and the fundamental way to prevent the situation from worsening is for the US and Israel to cease military actions. China does not agree with Iran’s attacks on GCC countries and condemns all indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians and non-military targets, and maritime route security should not be disturbed. Ambassador Fu Cong emphasized that the Security Council should uphold an objective, fair, and just stance. Under the current circumstances, authorizing member states to use force is no different from legitimizing the illegal abuse of force, which will inevitably lead to further escalation and serious consequences. The Security Council must act cautiously and play a positive role in de-escalating the situation and restoring dialogue and negotiations. (Source: ODAILY)
