I personally feel that Yang Shen’s ci (poetry) is indeed very beautiful—there’s conflict within the beauty, and within the conflict there’s a heroic spirit; it also carries a sense of vastness, sorrow, and desolation. In the end, it returns to dust, returns to the earth, and is submerged in the long river of history. For example: “Linjianxian. Rolling, the mighty Yangtze River flows eastward.”$ETH
