A Bitcoin holder lost all assets after being hacked due to downloading a counterfeit Ledger app.
ME News Report, April 17 (UTC+8), a user who has held Bitcoin since 2017 was recently hacked after downloading a counterfeit Ledger app, losing all of their Bitcoin assets. The information shows that last week, the user downloaded what appeared to be a legitimate Ledger app from the Apple App Store, which looked similar to the official version in branding and interface. Subsequently, the app prompted the user to input 24 mnemonic words. After the malicious app obtained this information, the attacker reconstructed the wallet and immediately transferred the funds. The report states that once mnemonic words are compromised, the assets in the related wallet can be transferred directly, and there are no device confirmation, secondary verification, or revocation mechanisms.
