The reason prices can’t rise is that the “leading consensus” is high, but greedy people use leveraged long contracts to block the increase. Think about it—if the price goes up, where would they get so much money to compensate you? So, when more people go long, the price must fall to pay the fewer short sellers, so that total gains and losses can balance out.
