ETH 15-minute rise of 0.86%: On-chain large holder transfers intensify and the weakening of the holding structure resonate together, driving volatility
From 22:30 to 22:45 (UTC) on 2026-04-07, the ETH price range was 2159.4 to 2192.35 USDT, with the candlestick return reaching +0.86% and the amplitude at 1.53%. During this window, ETH volatility increased somewhat, market attention rose rapidly, and short-term trading became active.
The main driver of this anomaly is a dense occurrence of large transfers on-chain, especially at 22:34:59, when a single transfer of 10,000 ETH was sent out. The funds circulated quickly among multiple large holders, indicating that institutions or off-exchange positions are rebalancing rather than engaging in buy/sell activity in a single direction. Liquidity contracted in a short time, and a single large transaction had a significant impact on the price.
In addition, the net holdings of long-term holders (hodlers) fell sharply from the March peak to only 121,902 ETH by the end of the month. The whale cohort has also recently shifted from net inflows to net outflows, weakening the position structure among large holders. Combined with abnormal on-chain activity, April’s daily transaction volume has already reached 2.8 million transactions, with more than 12.6 million new addresses; against the backdrop of historical highs, unusually active on-chain behavior and potential systemic on-chain risks together amplify short-term price volatility.
In the near term, the risk of ETH market liquidity and pressure from structural adjustments are clearly rising. In the short run, it is necessary to closely monitor high-frequency large transfers, large holders’ position reshuffling behavior, hodler holding trends, and abnormal on-chain activity. The key resistance level is $2200, and the support level is $2000. Momentum indicators are overall weak, and market sensitivity has increased. Users need to be alert to worsening liquidity and the risk of short-term pullbacks, and it is recommended to continue monitoring real-time fund flows and changes in on-chain activity.
