I've noticed that lately, more and more people are interested in stablecoins as the most stable cryptocurrencies for storage and trading. And it's true, when volatility is off the charts, you want something reliable. Here's what I've identified in the market.

Usually, everyone starts with Tether (USDT) — it's simply the king among stablecoins. Over $84 billion in market capitalization, accepted everywhere. It operates on Ethereum, Tron, Solana — choose any blockchain. For trading and DeFi, it's the de facto standard.

Then there's USD Coin (USDC) — I see it as a serious competitor. Over $25 billion in market cap, and most importantly — full transparency, monthly reserve audits. Many prefer it for its regularity and compliance. It works everywhere: Ethereum, Solana, Algorand, Avalanche.

BUSD is interesting because it's a stablecoin from a major platform, fully approved by regulators. Although its market cap is smaller — around $7 billion — it's still a significant player in the market.

Now, about decentralized options. DAI is a completely different approach; managed by the MakerDAO protocol, backed by cryptocurrencies rather than fiat. Its current market cap is about $4.45 billion. If you’re into decentralization, this is your choice.

TrueUSD (TUSD) — another regulated option, with regular audits. Its market cap is currently $494 million, but it has a good reputation. Paxos Standard (USDP) also deserves attention — focusing on security and bank backing.

GUSD from Gemini is for those who value institutional-level reliability. Regulated by NYDFS, fully backed. And there's Frax — a hybrid option, partially algorithmic, which gives it a unique edge.

When choosing the most stable cryptocurrency among stablecoins, look at several factors: transparency (USDC, TUSD is regularly audited), regulation (USDC, BUSD, GUSD are officially approved), and support for different blockchains (more convenient for fees). If decentralization is important, DAI and Frax offer interesting mechanisms.

All these options have long proven their reliability. The choice depends on what’s your priority: maximum liquidity, regularity, decentralization, or flexibility. On Gate, you can track quotes for all these assets and choose what’s most convenient for you.
