These days I was curious to test some apps for mining cryptocurrencies on my phone. I discovered that there are several options available, from simple apps to more robust cloud mining services.

I started researching CryptoTab, which is well known in the community. Basically, you install it, activate mining, and the app starts working automatically. It also has the advantage of inviting friends and earning more in the process. Then I found StormGain, which offers cloud mining with a very intuitive interface. The downside is that it needs to be restarted every 4 hours, which is a bit annoying if you want something more passive.

I also discovered NiceHash, which is more for those who want to manage hash rate with more control. It has a very useful earnings calculator, and security is taken seriously there. And there's Bitdeer as well, which provides access to more professional equipment, perfect for experienced miners.

Now, real talk: is mining on a phone feasible? It depends a lot on what you expect. Some people swear it’s not worth it because of the competition, the time it takes—(about 8 hours a day)—and the risks of fraud. But there’s another side too—some believe that an app for mining cryptocurrencies on a phone can be an accessible way to get started, especially considering that technology tends to improve.

If you want to try, the process is pretty straightforward: choose the app, install it, create an account, set up your wallet, and start. On the iPhone, it’s more complicated because of Apple’s restrictions, but it’s possible with cloud services.

Regarding which cryptocurrency to mine, the most viable on a phone seem to be Monero, Dogecoin, Vertcoin, and Ravencoin. But also consider your region’s energy costs and the current price of the coin.

The truth is, mining 1 Bitcoin on a smartphone is practically impossible in a reasonable time—the average time is about 10 minutes just to mine one Bitcoin with specialized equipment. So if you’re thinking about getting rich quick, this isn’t the solution. But as a way to learn and earn a little while your phone is idle? It might be interesting to test a crypto mining app on your phone and see how it works.
