I just came across a pretty wild story that shows how crazy the NFT world can really be. It’s about Charlotte Fang and the empire behind Milady Maker—one of the most successful NFT projects of all time.
So, Charlotte Fang was actually known as Krishna Okhandiar before he got into the art scene. The guy founded Remilia Corporation, a digital asset incubation studio that later became the center of one of the biggest NFT phenomena. In 2021, Fang initially experimented with a meme-coin-like NFT series called Yayo, but that didn’t last long.
Then came August 2021—the turning point. Charlotte Fang and his team launched Milady Maker, a Neo-Chibi collection with 10,000 limited cartoon artworks on the Ethereum blockchain. Their plan was simple: build a Minecraft server. And it worked. The collection sold out quickly, and by April 2022, the floor price shot up to 1.55 ETH.
But then came the scandal. In May 2022, an X account connected to Fang was criticized for racist and homophobic content. Charlotte Fang later admitted that he used the account for performance art, apologized, and distanced himself from it. The price crashed. That was poisonous for the community.
The turning point? Elon Musk. On May 10, 2023, he tweeted about the Milady meme, and suddenly the collection exploded again. The floor price surpassed the old highs, and Milady Maker became the third most expensive 10,000-NFT PFP collection.
But Charlotte Fang wasn’t done yet. Earlier this year (2024), he launched the much-anticipated meme coin $CULT. At launch, the FDV reached over $845 million. The team distributed more than half of the supply as a “Cult Fund,” allocated 15% to Milady holders, and put 20–35% into the Remilia treasury. Milady and Redacted Remilio Babies NFT holders also received an exclusive airdrop.
Today, $CULT , of course, it has become more volatile, but that’s normal for meme coins. What impresses me is how Charlotte Fang managed to build a real ecosystem despite all the controversies. Milady Maker remains one of the most traded NFT collections with stable prices.
The whole story shows how complex—and sometimes chaotic—the NFT world really is. Fang managed to recover from scandals and create a project that truly lasts. Whether you like him or not—that’s impressive.
