Today, the vault of Drift, the leading decentralized perpetual contract trading platform on Solana, was hacked and approximately $250 million was stolen;

This is one of the biggest Sol DeFi events of 2026 so far. The attacker used a very professional method, preparing several shell wallets in advance, then executing a series of token thefts, transfers, and washings;
Step 1: Stealing the funds:
A dormant wallet that had been inactive for 8 days suddenly received a large sum stolen from the Drift vault today;
Step 2: Transferring:
The stolen funds were then exchanged for other assets and transferred to several other money-laundering wallets, which had been funded yesterday via Backpack;
Step 3: Cross-chain laundering:
The money-laundering wallets then used the Wormhole bridge to transfer the funds to Ethereum, where they were finally sent through a mixer to be thoroughly cleaned;
The entire process was carefully planned several days in advance, demonstrating a high level of professionalism. Now the funds are mostly washed, making recovery extremely difficult. The image in the second link is a flowchart of this process.
