ME News update, on March 31 (UTC+8), Google recently posted that it will complete the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration before 2029 to address the threat posed by future quantum computers to existing encryption standards. Google said quantum computers will pose a significant threat to today’s encryption standards, especially encryption and digital signatures. The threat to encryption has already begun to emerge, for example via “store now, decrypt later” attacks; while digital signatures are a future threat that need to transition to PQC before being deployed to quantum computers related to cryptography (CRQC). Therefore, Google adjusted its threat model, prioritizing PQC migration for authentication services, and recommended that other engineering teams take similar steps. (Source: Foresight News)
