ME News update: On April 1 (UTC+8), U.S. prosecutors filed lawsuits against 10 foreign nationals associated with four crypto market makers. Three executives have been extradited from Singapore to the United States, and appeared in federal court in Oakland, California, on Monday of this week. The three defendants who appeared are Vortex CEO Gleb Gora, Contrarian CEO Manu Singh, and Contrarian employee Vasu Sharma. The three were arrested in Singapore in October 2025 and extradited to the U.S. The companies involved include Gotbit, Vortex, Antier, and Contrarian, and the related conduct can be traced back to 2018. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges that the above companies fabricated trading volume and artificially boosted token prices through methods such as wash trading, matched orders, and prearranged trades, creating a false appearance of liquidity boom, and attracting retail investors to enter before insiders sold off.
