Just reading back on that whole Lana Rhoades NFT situation from a few years back and honestly it's wild how that played out. So basically she launched this project called CryptoSis in early 2022 and dropped around 6,000 NFTs at 0.1 ETH each. That's roughly $1.5 million in like 48 hours. Pretty crazy numbers right?
The pitch was solid on paper - promised Sandbox and Decentraland land for holders, said she'd pump the floor price so investors could actually profit. Classic celebrity NFT energy. But then nothing happened. The project just ghosted.
What gets me is how she handled it. Instead of owning up to it or explaining what went wrong, she blamed the community for being mean on Discord and basically dipped with the funds. Someone even mentioned a guy with a 2-year-old kid who threw almost his entire savings into the Lana Rhoades NFT collection. And her response? Made jokes about it instead of caring.
The crazy part is nothing really happened to her after. No real consequences, no legal action that stuck. Meanwhile regular people lost serious money. It's one of those moments that really showed how unaccountable some celebrities think they are in crypto. The whole Lana Rhoades NFT debacle became a textbook example of why you gotta be careful with celebrity projects in this space.
