I just realized something quite interesting about the current market — Blockchain Layer 1s are increasingly becoming the focus of savvy investors.
Perhaps many of you are still somewhat unclear about this concept. Simply put, Blockchain Layer 1 refers to the main blockchain platforms that can process and finalize transactions completely independently without relying on other networks. Each Layer 1 has its own native token used to pay transaction fees, and also serves as the infrastructure for other applications, protocols, and networks such as Layer 2 or dApps built on top of it.
It’s no coincidence that Layer 1s are gaining more attention. If you look at performance, the difference is quite clear. Bitcoin only achieves about 2.83 to 4.17 TPS (transactions per second), because a block takes 10 minutes to mine but only contains around 1,700 to 2,500 transactions. Ethereum performs slightly better with an average of 11.8 TPS, although the theoretical gas limit could be higher, in practice it’s constrained by smart contract interactions. However, new Blockchain Layer 1s like Solana reach 110,000 TPS, and Aptos up to 160,000 TPS — this is a real leap forward.
This is exactly why Blockchain Layer 1s are attracting investors. They not only offer security but also have the potential for superior profit growth. As technology advances, many new projects are emerging based on existing platforms to address their weaknesses, while adding new features and applications.
Personally, I am paying attention to some Layer 1 blockchains in this cycle. APT is currently at $0.90 (down 4.18% in 24h), SUI at $0.86 (down 2.42%), and SEI at $0.05 (down 5.16%). These projects have significant potential if you have a long-term plan. I will prepare a more in-depth analysis of these Layer 1s in the near future.
If you’re interested in opportunities within the Blockchain Layer 1 space, you can visit Gate to track the price movements of these tokens. The market still holds many opportunities, and understanding Layer 1s will help you make more informed investment decisions.
