I've been researching apps to mine cryptocurrencies for free from your mobile device, and honestly, there are quite a few interesting options. Most of them use your phone's processing power to generate hash rate and increase the chances of earning rewards.
The most common ones I see are CryptoTab (one of the first to come out, very easy to use), a major exchange offering cloud mining, StormGain (good interface but restarts every 4 hours), NiceHash (with an integrated profitability calculator), and Bitdeer (more for advanced users with different plans).
The truth is, mining cryptocurrencies for free on your phone has its pros and cons. On one hand, it’s accessible and you don’t need special equipment. But the reality is, competition is fierce, and you need to stay connected many hours a day (let’s say an average of 8 hours), and there are fraud risks. Some say it’s not worth it, others believe it’s an easy way to earn some extra cash. It probably depends on your expectations and how the industry evolves with new algorithms and better hardware.
If you want to try mining on Android, the process is pretty straightforward: download an app, create an account, verify your identity if needed, set which coin you want to mine, add your wallet, and you’re good to go. On iPhone, it’s more complicated due to Apple’s restrictions, so most cloud mining apps are your only real option.
According to what I read, in 2024, the easiest coins to mine from a mobile device were Monero (XMR, around $324.80), Dogecoin (DOGE, about $0.09), Vertcoin (VTC), and Ravencoin (RVN, close to $0.01). But of course, you also need to consider your local electricity costs and how much the coin is worth on the market.
A common question is how long it takes to mine 1 Bitcoin from a smartphone. The answer is: a lot of time. The average hash rate is about 10 minutes, so to mine a full BTC, you’d need professional equipment or cloud services. Bitcoin is roughly $66.63K, so understand that mining on mobile is more of a hobby than a serious business.
The important thing is not to rush. Mining cryptocurrencies for free is feasible, but do your research before getting started, enable two-factor authentication on the apps you use, and stay alert to changes in terms of service. In the end, the decision is yours, but make it with your eyes open.
