Just pulled together the latest wealth rankings in crypto and it's pretty eye-opening. Here's who's sitting at the top of the pile based on current valuations.
Obviously Satoshi Nakamoto leads by a massive margin - somewhere around 93 billion if we value his estimated 750k to 1.1 million BTC at current prices. The thing is, nobody even knows who this person is. That's wild when you think about it.
Then you've got the founders and early believers who actually stayed visible. The creator of a major CEX is sitting around 65 billion, while Michael Saylor from MicroStrategy has been aggressively accumulating Bitcoin both personally and through his company - putting him in the 9-9.2 billion range.
What's interesting is the stablecoin angle. Giancarlo Devasini holds roughly 47% of Tether and that's valued around 9-22 billion. Same tier as some of the exchange founders. The co-founder of a leading US exchange? Around 11-12 billion. And here's where it gets interesting - Fred Ehrsam, who co-founded that same exchange, has a net worth estimated between 3.2 to 3.4 billion. But that's not even counting his venture capital plays. Fred Ehrsam has become a major player through Paradigm, the crypto venture firm he started, which gives him exposure to a ton of emerging projects.
Chris Larsen, who co-founded Ripple, is somewhere in the 3.2 to 8 billion range with significant XRP holdings. The derivatives platform world has its own wealth - the former CEO and current leadership there are both sitting around 3.9 billion each.
Matthew Roszak rounds out the top 10 at 3.1 billion - early Bitcoin and Ethereum investor who founded Bloq.
What strikes me is how much of this wealth is concentrated in Bitcoin holdings and exchange ownership. If you got in early and stayed committed, the returns have been absolutely insane. The Fred Ehrsam net worth story is particularly interesting because it shows how venture capital in crypto can be just as lucrative as direct holdings. The guy co-founded an exchange, made serious money there, then pivoted to backing the next wave of projects through Paradigm. That's a different wealth-building playbook than pure Bitcoin accumulation.
With BTC hovering around 66.9k and the market heating up again, these valuations could shift pretty dramatically. Worth keeping an eye on.
