What is a Trading System?
In simple terms, it's a complete set of rules for "when to enter, how to hold, when to exit, and how much loss counts as done."
It's not about feeling, not about making a gut call, not about "this candlestick looks good to me." Instead, it's a rule system you can follow every day and that others can replicate by following it too.
A complete trading system must include these 6 core modules:
① Market & Timeframe (Where are you trading)
• What assets: Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.
• What timeframe: 5 minutes? 15 minutes? 1 hour? Daily?
❌ Rookie mistake: Bullish on the daily chart, shorting on the 5-minute, then get knocked out by the market
⸻
② Entry Rules (What conditions trigger my order)
Must be clear, describable, and reviewable conditions, such as:
• Trend + pullback
• Reversal candlestick at key support level
• Breakout + retest confirmation
Not:
"Feels like it's going up" "This level should be about right"
⸻
③ Stop Loss Rule (Plan how to lose first)
Without a stop loss, it's not a trading system, it's gambling.
Stop loss can be:
• Fixed points / percentage
• Structure stop loss (break of previous low)
• ATR / volatility-based stop loss
Core principle:
Before you enter, know exactly: if wrong, I lose this much
⸻
④ Take Profit Rule (How to pocket the gains)
Unclear take profit means giving back all your earnings.
Common methods:
• Fixed risk-reward ratio (1:2, 1:3)
• Take profit at key resistance
• Trailing stop (follow the trend)
⸻
⑤ Position Sizing (How much do you risk per trade)
This is the key to whether you survive.
Core principle:
Single trade loss ≤ 1%–2% of total capital
Even the best strategy blows up if position sizing is out of control.
⸻
⑥ Review & Discipline (Can the system work long-term)
• Did I execute every single trade by the system?
• Is the loss a system flaw or my undisciplined hand?
System handles making money, you handle execution
⸻
One-sentence summary
Trading System = Rules + Risk Control + Discipline
Not about winning every single trade, but about——after 100 trades, you're still standing solid and your account is growing.$BTC $ETH
